At Macao Startup Club, we’ve always believed that the right environment can unlock extraordinary potential. This belief came to life once again through Startup Weekend Macau – Women Edition, led by Kylie, founder of Trally and a driving force behind this initiative.

In this feature, Kylie shares the story behind the event, the moments that mattered, and her vision for the future of women in Macau’s startup ecosystem.

From Personal Lessons to Community Impact

Every startup journey begins somewhere—and often, with a fair share of mistakes.

Reflecting on her early days as the founder of Trally, Kylie shared how access to the right knowledge and guidance could have changed her trajectory. It was through Macao Startup Club that she first encountered the global Startup Weekend format—an experience that left a lasting impression.

What stood out to her was its practicality: a structured, high-energy environment where aspiring entrepreneurs could rapidly learn, build, and validate ideas.

Inspired by this, Kylie set out to bring that experience to Macau—not just as an event, but as a launchpad for future founders.

At the same time, her perspective as a female entrepreneur and hotelier highlighted an important reality: while progress has been made, there is still room to grow when it comes to gender equality in entrepreneurship.

With the global Startup Weekend celebrating a women-focused edition alongside International Women’s Day, the timing felt right. The result? A dedicated space designed to empower women, amplify their voices, and accelerate their entrepreneurial journeys.

54 Hours, Strangers to Startup Teams

One of the most powerful aspects of Startup Weekend is its transformation within a short span of time.

Over just 54 hours, participants—many of whom had never met before—came together, formed teams, and turned raw ideas into structured business concepts.

The final pitching session stood out as a defining moment.

“As the lead organizer, we worked hard to build a platform for connection and growth,” Kylie shared. “Seeing how fully participants embraced it made me feel that all our efforts were worthwhile.”

Watching individuals who started with uncertainty step onto the stage with confidence was more than just impressive—it was emotional.

The Power of Balance in Innovation

When discussing the role of women in entrepreneurship, Kylie emphasized that the conversation goes beyond representation—it’s about perspective.

“I believe both men and women bring distinct strengths and values to the table,” she noted.

With more women involved, decision-making becomes more balanced, innovation becomes more inclusive, and outcomes become more cohesive.

It’s not about comparison—it’s about collaboration with mutual respect. And when that balance is achieved, it contributes to a more harmonious and forward-thinking society.

Introducing: Global Women Collective (GWC)

Building on this momentum, Kylie recently launched a new initiative: the Global Women Collective (GWC).

Her vision is to bring together women from different parts of the world to uplift and empower one another, with a clear focus on advancing gender equality.

Through GWC, she hopes to:

  • Foster meaningful global connections

  • Encourage cross-border collaboration

  • Promote equality and inclusion

At its core, the initiative is about creating a space where women grow together—and in doing so, shape a more cohesive global community.

What’s Next for Women in Entrepreneurship?

The response to Startup Weekend Macau – Women Edition 2026 has been overwhelmingly positive.

Participants shared that the experience helped them connect with like-minded individuals—potential co-founders and collaborators—and sparked new entrepreneurial ideas.

Looking ahead, Kylie believes that initiatives like Startup Weekend and the Global Women Collective are essential to keeping the entrepreneurial spirit alive.

By continuing to create opportunities, build connections, and support new founders, these initiatives will play a key role in shaping the future of entrepreneurship—not just in Macau, but beyond.
