Mixing Sparks: Inside H3 Startup Mixology

Last Saturday, the Macao Startup Club turned the classic networking model on its head. Instead of the usual stiff panels and formal keynotes, we hosted our latest Startup Connect Serial event: H3 Startup Mixology.

The concept was simple yet potent: put 40 of the region’s sharpest Hipsters, Hackers, and Hustlers into a single room and watch the chemistry happen.

The Recipe for Real Ventures

The logic behind the evening is straightforward. To build a venture that actually survives and scales, you need three distinct ingredients:

  • The Hipster: Creative vision and design intuition.

  • The Hacker: Technical execution and building power.

  • The Hustler: Commercial drive and market strategy.

Too often, these three forces move in parallel lines, never quite touching. We wanted to see what happens when they cross paths, collide, and actually intersect.

Moving Beyond the "Networking" Noise

The evening kicked off with a clear sense of purpose. Our Executive Vice Chairman, Ambrose Antonio, steered the night as moderator, while President James Si Tou opened with a look at where MSC is headed next.

Marco Chak, the designer of the evening, then cut straight to the chase about why this series exists:

"This wasn’t about adding another superficial networking event to the calendar. It was about creating a dedicated space where people who actually want to build things can find each other."

That builder mindset was on full display when Karson Wong and Rodrigo Ho Reis took the floor. Both pitched entirely different ideas, but shared the exact same execution-first grit.

No Stages, Just Synergy

Once the pitches wrapped, we threw out the formal setup entirely. No stages, no expert panels, no hierarchy. Everyone pulled their chairs into a massive circle to talk shop, swap notes, and figure out who they might team up with next. It was just honest, unfiltered conversation between builders.

Our Promise to the Ecosystem

At Macao Startup Club, we believe that Change Matters, Action Speaks, and Promise Stays.

This event is exactly how we choose to show up for the ecosystem. We don't just talk about innovation—we build the rooms, create the opportunities, and keep our promise to local founders by giving them the space to connect and create.

Stay tuned for the next Serial event. The mixology has just begun.

What’s your startup superpower? Are you a Hipster, a Hacker, or a Hustler?
