Nowhere was this exciting evolution more evident than at the Grand Ballroom of Studio City, which hosted the prestigious 9th Annual Business Awards of Macau. Attended by nearly 200 leading figures from the local and international business communities, the gala dinner honored 31 exceptional individuals, companies, and institutions driving Macau’s future.


The defining takeaway from this year’s awards? Macau’s local innovation ecosystem is maturing rapidly, blending modern technology with deep cultural roots. Let’s dive into the major standouts and innovators who stole the spotlight.



The Pioneers of Local Tech and Innovation

A massive focus of the evening was on companies turning complex software and engineering into practical, real-world solutions.


  • AKL Intelligence Technology Limited (Innovation Gold Award): Taking home the top spot in the highly competitive Innovation category, AKL proved that Macau is a serious contender in high-tech development.

  • SABA Hospitality Technology Solutions (SME Gold Award): SABA Hospitality walked away with the Small and Medium Enterprise Gold Award, highlighting a massive trend in 2026: the digitization of Macau’s bedrock industry. Their technology helps traditional hospitality and tourism frameworks seamlessly integrate smart automation and contactless experiences.

  • Macao MicroInspect Technology (Young Entrepreneur Excellence Award): Founded by Garvie Huang Ka Wai, this deep-tech startup received widespread acclaim. MicroInspect exemplifies a new wave of local startups capitalizing on high-tech research outcomes, pushing into automated engineering and micro-level industrial inspection.


Evolving Categories for a Changing World

Reflecting global and regional shifts, the 2026 edition introduced two groundbreaking categories: the Sustainability Award and the My City – My Brand Award.


The Sustainability Champions

As Macau works to optimize its carbon footprint and implement green logistics, JC Human Resources Consulting secured the historic first Gold Award for Sustainability. Excellence awards in this crucial field were handed to Macau Organic Mix Limited and the Macau Institute for Corporate Social Responsibility in Greater China, emphasizing that eco-conscious operations are now a business imperative.


Honoring Macau’s Living Identity

The "My City – My Brand" category was created to honor the businesses keeping dreams alive across generations. The inaugural Gold Award went to Valuen, a legendary local tea distributor founded in 1965 and currently operating under its third generation of leadership—showing that in Macau, tech innovation and deep cultural heritage walk hand in hand.


The 2026 Business Awards made it clear that Macau is no longer just looking to the future—local founders and legacy brands are actively building it.
